To make ordinary what was eccentric... to render tuneful the monotonous and colorful the gray—and all of it magic, if I may use this term. Jiri Kolar
Art Assets is very pleased to announce an exhibition of work by Czech artist, Jiri Kolar, at The Lobby Gallery, 31 West 52nd Street. Kolar’s last major New York exhibition, at The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, was over 20 years ago, making this exhibition an extremely rare occasion to view his work.
The Magic of Kolar will present collages and objects selected from his solo exhibition at Madrid’s Museo Reina Sofia, in 1996. Jiri Kolar has also exhibited at such prominent museums as the Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin (1973), the Musee de Louvre (1971), the Palais des Beaux Arts, Brussels (1971), the Stedelijk Museum, (1970), the Jewish Museum (1970), the Sao Paulo Bienal (1969), the Venice Biennale (1968), Documenta (1968) and the Institute of Contemporary Art, London (1965).
